What about my pets?

We all have pets at home. Moving to another country bring a lot of stress about our animals. Can I bring my pet into Canada?

Yes you can but there are a few things to know ahead of time.

  • Book your pet flight ahead of time. Some airlines need more time.
  • No special pet passports are needed.
  • Canada will not allow your pet into Canada without proper vaccination.
  • Vaccinations for Rabies are very important.
  • Your vet will also need to give a certificate of health.
  • The certificate must indicate pets name, date, color, breed and medical information.
  • Your health check must be close to flying date.
  • You will need to keep pets information with your flying documents.
  • If the animal is flying on a different date then there must be a receiving person with an address.
  • When your animals fly with you on your flight, then you need to indicate that on your custom form.
  • Most of the time you will claim your pet on the airport at the over sized items platform.
  • Your pet needs to see a vet/customs officer on the airport.
  • When that is cleared your animal can leave with you.
